The Board of Education announced that it is looking to sell property at the intersection of Buttonhook Road and Garey Drive for approximately $3.5 million. It is expected that once the land is sold off, it will be filled with high-end single-family homes.
The district reportedly acquired the land more than four decades ago for approximately $125,000. The taxes on the property are approximately $18,988 annually.
The sale comes as the Central Chappaqua School District saw a 6 percent decline in enrollment in the past five years, and more than 10 percent in the past decade.
According to the agents representing the property, there are six approved lots. Each subdivided lot has an approved pool site, access to municipal water and Board of Health approved septic. For prospective buyers, a builder's packet is available upon request.
